American Forests (NONPROFIT) The Walker Building
734 15th St. NW
Suite 800
Washington, DC 20005
Founded in 1875, American Forests is the oldest non-profit organization in the U.S. Our mission is to grow a healthier world with trees by working with communities on local efforts that restore forest ecosystems. Our work encompasses planting trees, fostering environmental education, and improving public policy for trees at the national level. With environmental issues becoming more important each year, American Forests aims to not only be a strong advocate of forests through its newsletters, magazine, and our City Green GIS education program, but to plant trees in the areas that need it most. Projects have ranged from restoring woodlands destroyed by Katrina to improving the value of urban areas with tree plantings. Over 25 million trees have been planted through American Forests, leading to more habitats, carbon sequestration, and pollution reduction. Trees provide real benefits, which is why American Forests has been committed to forest conservation for over 125 years.
